Stained Glass Windows by Brother John Benesh, C.S.C., Lima, Peru

Before I began the Chapel Window Project in 2000 I had read a how-to-do-it book on stained glass and then did four small pieces, all for chapels in residences in another part of Lima. During part of the year 2000 I was supervising the construction at the novitiate site. When I saw the plans for the chapel, I told the architect and our District Superior "I can do the windows in the chapel" despite my limited experience. They accepted my designs and let me proceed. I got some help from a professional shop in Lima and began to work in November of 2000. Sometime in 2003 I installed the final section in the big cross behind the altar, completing the Chapel Project.
